Headstrong--I'll take you on

Strait-backed and marching, a dark-haired young man strode home at a brisk pace. Night was swiftly approaching, and on the dismal moon, it was never safe to be out when night had fallen—especially for the prince. However night was not the only reason for his haste. In his arms he carried the ration for himself and his twin brother, his hunger spurred him on.

Gray dust swirled around his ankles each time he stepped.( The dust was always present, it was as much a part of life in the colony as loss was. ) He passed several burrow-like homes that his people scraped out for themselves for shelter. Shadows darkened and twisted, making strange patterns all over.

“Little prince, you’re in such a hurry. What’s the occasion?”

The prince froze and bristled at the sound of the voice. He knew who it was instantly. From one of the shadows, a man sauntered out with a wicked smirk. His orange hair shone in the weakening rays of light and his amber eyes glinted maliciously. As many times as the young prince saw the expression, it never ceased to drive him to the aggravation.

"What's that face for, little prince?" The man mocked, "You look bothered. Do you need some comfort?”

“To hell with your ‘comfort’!” The prince snarled as he walked past the older man.

“Tisk, tisk. Now, Little Prince I wish you weren’t always so headstrong.You know, if you'd just take things like a good little prince you would be in a lot better shape. Sometimes I almost feel guilty when I have to beat you around so much.”

The prince would have none of this tonight. He simply wanted to get home. With a savage growl, he dropped his rations and charged his bitter enemy.

So, this picture actually didn't take me too long (relatively speaking). I like how it came out, but it's still sort of rough so I may continue to work on it and submit it again. I just really liked it and was excited to get it posted.

I tried an experiment with the shadows and it worked out pretty well so think I will continue to use this method. What I did was pick one shade of gray, then put all the shadows on one layer and multiplied the shadow layer.
